How long is a new patient dental visit, and what can I expect?

Your initial appointment may take approximately an hour to complete. As you’re new to our clinic, we’ll take time to review your dental and medical history before examining your mouth. We’ll also answer your questions about our practice and discuss any problems you may be experiencing with your teeth. Afterward, Dr. Prates will conduct a comprehensive oral exam, including x-rays, to get a better picture of your oral health. Lastly, we’ll go over the results of your exam, recommend treatments you may need, and schedule future visits as needed.

Are biannual dental visits really necessary?

Routine visits for exams and cleanings are essential to your oral health, and we don’t want you to miss them unnecessarily. To save time, you can schedule multiple checkups and cleanings on the same day for different members of your family. Biannual exams and cleanings help keep your family’s smiles in mint condition over the years.

What happens during routine dental visits?

During your visit, Dr. Prates will inspect your mouth for signs of dental issues so we can nip them in the bud quickly. For dental cleanings, we’ll use special tools to remove plaque, tartar (hardened plaque), and surface stains from your teeth. Afterward, we’ll floss and polish your smile, leaving it looking smooth and shiny.
